Refund and Cancellation Policy

1. Overview

Maitreya Labs (operating as "KushL") is committed to ensuring fair transactions for our subscription-based collaborative project management platform. This Refund and Cancellation Policy outlines the conditions under which refunds may be issued and how cancellations are handled.

KushL collects subscription fees through Razorpay (our licensed Payment Aggregator) as company revenue. This policy is designed to be fair to all users while ensuring compliance with RBI guidelines.

2. How Subscriptions Work

Understanding our subscription model helps clarify when refunds apply:

  1. User signs up for a Free account
  2. User chooses to upgrade to a paid tier (Starter, Pro, or Business)
  3. Payment is processed via Razorpay
  4. Subscription is activated immediately upon successful payment
  5. Subscription renews automatically each month unless cancelled
  6. User can cancel anytime; access continues until end of billing period

3. Cancellation Policy

3.1 How to Cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time through:

  • Your account settings in the KushL app
  • Emailing hello@kushl.app with your account email

3.2 What Happens When You Cancel

  • Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period
  • You will not be charged for the next billing cycle
  • Your account will be downgraded to the Free tier after the billing period ends
  • Your workspace data will be preserved (subject to Free tier limits)
  • If you exceed Free tier limits, you'll be prompted to delete content or upgrade

4. Refund Eligibility

Refunds may be issued in the following circumstances:

4.1 Full Refund (100%)

  • Within 7 days of first payment: If you're not satisfied with KushL, request a refund within 7 days of your first subscription payment
  • Duplicate Payment: Technical error resulting in multiple charges for the same period
  • Unauthorized Transaction: Payment made without account holder's consent (with verification)
  • Service Unavailability: If KushL is unavailable for more than 72 consecutive hours due to our fault

4.2 Prorated Refund

  • Annual Plan Cancellation: If you cancel an annual plan mid-term, you may receive a prorated refund for unused months (minus a 10% early termination fee)

4.3 No Refund

  • Monthly subscriptions cancelled after the 7-day satisfaction period
  • Accounts terminated for Terms of Service violations
  • Change of mind after using the service for more than 7 days
  • Failure to cancel before renewal date

5. Refund Process

5.1 How to Request a Refund

  1. Email us at hello@kushl.app with subject "Refund Request"
  2. Include your account email and reason for refund
  3. Provide transaction ID or payment reference (if available)

5.2 Review Process

  • We will acknowledge receipt within 24 hours
  • Our team will review your request within 3-5 business days
  • Decision will be communicated via email

5.3 Refund Timeline

If approved, your refund will be processed via Razorpay to the original payment method:

6. Free Tier

KushL offers a generous Free tier that allows you to try the platform before committing to a paid subscription:

  • 1 workspace, 3 projects, 50 tasks/month
  • 5 AI queries per day
  • 2 collaborators
  • No credit card required
  • No time limit

We recommend using the Free tier to evaluate KushL before upgrading to a paid plan.

7. Tier Downgrades

If you downgrade from a higher tier to a lower tier:

  • The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • No refund is provided for the remaining days on the higher tier
  • If you exceed the new tier's limits, you'll be prompted to delete content or stay on the higher tier
  • Your data is never automatically deleted during a downgrade

8. Late or Missing Refunds

If you haven't received a refund within the expected timeline:

  1. Check your bank account or card statement again
  2. Contact your bank or card issuer (processing times vary by bank)
  3. Check if the refund was credited to a different account linked to your payment method
  4. If you've done all of this and still haven't received your refund, contact us at hello@kushl.app with your transaction ID

9. Chargebacks

We strongly encourage users to contact us before initiating a chargeback with their bank or card issuer. Chargebacks initiated without first attempting resolution through our support may result in:

  • Immediate account suspension
  • Inability to create new accounts
  • Legal action to recover funds if the chargeback is found to be fraudulent
